looking chic

Once upon a time I was chic. Before working for myself, from home, where somedays I don't see anyone for days or weeks at a time.

I'm working on getting back to chic [it just feels better yes?] - now I dress up for myself even though it doesn't matter. I should say {some days} because as I type this I'm wearing jeans and a tshirt, which could be chic, but let me promise you that this set is not.

Garance has a fun note today on her blog about this image that Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist took of her. This lady is the queen of chic. In my next life I'll be her.

  1. You remind me of a family friend that had a home office. Each morning he'd dress in full business suit, then drive around the block and back home to "go to work" and reverse the process at the end of the day. Bet he never had to deal with a tub of black ink, though.

Here's a fun read when you're in need of jeans & tshirt justification: http://thoughtcatalog.com/2011/street-fashion-photography-is-fcking-with-me/

My favorite part: "What the hell are these people doing? I’m sorry, but a 50-year-old Asian man wearing a Paul Smith suit, a denim jacket, a mink stole, a Louis Vuitton backpack, Air Force Ones, and shutter shades — WHERE IS HE GOING? Does he work at an accounting firm run by Kanye West and a 10-year-old girl? Is he late for an appointment with Willy Wonka at the World Bank?"

  2. Ha! I totally go for coffee in the AM just so I feel like I'm coming to work.
