My grandma is turning 90 this summer and we're planning a little bbq for her and attempting to get everyone in the same room together which hasn't happened for some time.



I'm going to letterpress her invite in the next couple of weeks. I mean at 90 if you don't deserve a party I don't know when you do! Stay tuned for the real printing. I'm kinda excited about the envelope!

Stella is ready for her California debut

Did I ever tell you I had a 1965 Vespa, she was cherry red with a white seat and chrome. Seriously the cutest thing you've ever seen on two wheels. I bought it for myself for birthday 34 I think? Completely restored I was stopped nearly every time I rode it, asking me where I got it [EBay] I sold it a couple years later because it was a kick start and I couldn't kick it over without throwing my back out [yah tell me about it]. These Stella scooters are as good as it gets [shape wise] for modern scooters [this coming from someone who use to work with a MAJOR motorcycle manufacture]



previously unavailable in California because of emissions problems Genuine Scooter Co finally got it figured out with a 4-stroke. They're taking pre-orders now. Will you pick me up one while you're out? I'll take that blue one please. White Seat if it's available.

I haven't had many personal stories to share. It's down-right boring around here. This weekend? big project was cleaning out a closet. I've cleaned out one closet a week for three weeks. Spring Cleaning and the whole where.am.I.going.to.put.all.his.stuff when he finishes school in {gasp} Mid August.



If he makes it. We both are operating on glass half empty premise. you would have to hear the tales behind this half-assed school to know what I mean. In all of my days I've never seen anything like this place. I won't say anymore until he's done. jinx you owe me a coke.

In other news? I will shock you with this bit of information. I went to the Unemployment Office today [they said I had to] and what I can tell you is this...it was nice inside. The people weren't too horrific. And get this...the woman who helped me was NICE and HELPED ME without a huff or a puff or a you're so stupid look from the corner of her eye ever. In fact she hugged me. I kept thinking am I being punked? The wonders never cease!

Lastly, got a job for me? something part time like between the hours of 5am -I'm sleeping till when I wake up that pays really well and has health insurance [preferably Kaiser so I can just stay with the insanity?] Really? no job hu? rats... ok back to the drawing board errr job board I guess.

have I mentioned I'm off coffee? not of my own accord but some homeopathic medicine I'm taking doesn't allow for coffee or mint. Try brushing your teeth without mint. Yah.

I went to a show on friday night that was full of surprises. I had not been in the space since it was a metal/tin shop some years ago. Now it's this really cool funky space that can be rented out for events as well as art shows. I'm sort of obsessed.



But this woman? Jennifer Celio pretty much blew my mind. You can't tell from the photo but she does this very detailed pencil marking in the style of Edward Gorey if you're familar.

She then takes these simple little city imagery and puts in on a large white board, leaving the image to just float. like the one pictured here. I love me some white space the same as I like chocolate.

$2200 was my Friday night crush - If I had it? wouldn't have thought twice. seriously worth it.

dream home

in case anyone was wondering - this might just be my dream house. I mean who doesn't want a loft above their kitchen?

Pretty

Karey from Mackin Ink emailed me a bit ago and asked can you turn this postcard into something letterpressed? So I took that little pattern she had done for her friend and made it into a beautiful wedding suite. Even I was surprised by all of it's amazingness.



it's hard to tell but the color was this lovely deep blueish-purple, and I pressed the main envelope so that the design was partly on the front and the back [new for me]. I haven't been this nervous about a job in a long while I might add, I dunno something about being perfect, I wanted it all perfect for her. The most surprising part? the little rsvp envelope which I made to have the little motif on the back flap - it looked like something that would come from the Royal Family. They are in the U.K. after all!

Have I ever told you stripes and dots make me happy? they do.



I could so use a dose of happy. It feels like I've been sick for weeks [really only 1 week] that I won't stop coughing and that there are just not enough cough drops to help a sister out.



I think it's stress. I've started interviewing again for reals. Then I got a call from my doctor ... hey we'd like you to come back because we see something fishy [it was nothing] Nothing like being a grown up to add a little stress to your week.

but stripes? totally wash it all away. Well mostly anyway
